Back ryn: SEO is cringe

March 5th 2024: SEO is cringe

(Note: blog pages like these won't use the "center" tag because it would look weird on these posts)
Ah yes, SEO. "Search Engine Optimization". A thing that web developers use to boost their rankings in search engines.
It artificially inflates the size of pages by adding tons of filler words, makes the page look bad, and decreases quality.
Now, if it's used in the right hands, it's fine. But of course, there will always be 1, 2, 100, or 1,000,000 people who use it to do something bad.
Ever try to search something and all you get are a bunch of blog websites with broken English? That's what happens when SEO is used in the wrong hands.
These websites are called "content farms". They are the incarnation of "quantity over quality". The antithesis of the "small web".
Now, while sometimes these content farms can be helpful, most times their dominion over the search results obscures better sources of info.

What should we use instead of SEO? Good content. Instead of quantity over quality, quality over quantity. Good content will give you free marketing
from people who approve of it. You don't need to go overboard with quality, either. You can post weekly or something, and that should bring a good balance of quality and quantity.
I will revisit the subject of the modern Internet and how to fix it from time to time. You can come back anytime, provided my web host (aftersleep) doesn't go down due to bandwidth issues.
